An alternative flood measurement approach: Flood Meter

Abstract Flash floods commonly occur in urban areas due to a short period of heavy rainfall associated with the large impervious area and inadequate drainage system. An increase uncertainty predicting flash floods, especially climate change, reduces accuracy existing flood forecasting In such cases, affected zone’s actual level data is required for more effective management incident response. This study aims develop mobile application called Flood Meter identify levels real-time. It measured based on object scale images taken by phones. Although validation using an event three different types phones shows lack but considered maximum only 0.17 m result keep improving when increase, it potentially good agreement compared manual measurement. The can become alternative method disseminate accurate real-time situations as well collection future risk management.
